Sehnsucht
El origen de esta canción se remonta a los mismos inicios del grupo. En 1996, la canción llevaba el título Afrika y solo se diferenciaba de la versión definitiva en pequeños detalles.
Sehnsucht comienza con un grito largo y profundo generado con el teclado electrónico de Christian Lorenz. Gradualmente entra la batería y luego el resto de los instrumentos. Los primeros compases están caracterizados por el potente riff que ejecutan las dos guitarras al unísono. La canción podría ser un lamento por el amor perdido. La línea "entre tus largas piernas busco la nieve del año pasado / pero allí.. ya no hay nieve" parece sugerir que cuando se rompe una relación entre dos personas y luego se reanuda, esta nunca es igual que al principio. El verso que dice "el dedo señala hacia México pero se hunde en el océano" suele interpretarse como una alusión a la masturbación femenina.
Durante el concierto que aparece en el DVD Live Aus Berlin, el cantante Till Lindemann se golpea muchas veces con el micrófono en la cabeza y durante el resto del concierto tiene la cara manchada de lo que parece ser sangre.

Engel

Segunda canción del disco en ser lanzada como sencillo, Engel es reconocible por el coro de silbidos que suena durante el estribillo. El videoclip de la canción es un homenaje a la película de Robert Rodriguez From Dusk Till Dawn.

Tier
Esta canción habla sobre el incesto y la pedofilia. La letra dice que el padre "es sólo un animal", al intentar violar a su hija, como los animales, se aparean con su propia carne y sangre. La hija mata a su padre y escribe la historia con su sangre.

Bestrafe mich
La canción habla sobre fanatismo religioso y la relación entre dios y un hombre, al cual le gusta ser castigado. En Live Aus Berlin, durante esta canción, Till se golpea la espalda con un látigo.

Du hast

Esta canción es probablemente la más conocida del grupo en todo el mundo. Es un juego con los votos matrimoniales. A menudo se piensa erróneamente que "Du hast" quiere decir "tú odias" porque Rammstein grabó una versión en inglés en la que decían "you hate". El origen de esta controversia está en que, Till Lindemann al momento de pronunciar "Du hast" enfatiza mucho la letra S por lo que parece decir "Du Hasst" y que hace referencia a la palabra "Hassen" que significa "odiar", esto es parte del juego de letras que le da ese doble sentido a la canción.

Bück dich
Esta canción habla sobre sadomasoquismo y dominación sexual. En Live Aus Berlin, la canción es censurada y sólo disponible en una edición especial sin censura. Till persigue a Flake a través del escenario vestido en un traje masoquista, y simula que lo viola usando un dildo que escupe un líquido blanco. Durante un concierto en Worcester, Massachusetts, cuando Till y Flake hicieron este acto, fueron arrestados durante 24 horas en la prisión local.

Spiel mit mir
La canción sobre incesto entre 2 hermanos. Till dice que "no hay ninguna familia perfecta", haciendo énfasis a esto al final del coro.
Cuando es tocada en Live Aus Berlin, al final de la canción, Flake toca los teclados dos octavas más alto de lo normal. Es la canción con la cual comienza el concierto en Berlín.

Klavier
Una de las más lentas canciones de Rammstein. Habla de un hombre que amaba cómo su novia tocaba el piano para él. Tanto que decidió dejar a su novia encerrada en el ático tocando el piano sin detenerse. Un día los padres de su novia y la policía hacen que el hombre abra el ático, y ven a la bella hija muerta sobre el piano.

Alter Mann
La canción es sobre un hombre que observa a un anciano suavizando el agua con un abanico. El hombre arroja una piedra al agua por diversión y éste la suaviza otra vez. Tiempo el hombre le quiere preguntar algo al anciano pero descubre que éste ha muerto. El hombre luego recuerda lo que el anciano le había dicho antes de morir: "El agua sera tu unico espejo, solo cuando está lisa podrás ver, cuantos cuentos aún te quedan, y por liberación tu suplicarás". El hombre crece y se hace más viejo y sabio. Cada día recuerda al anciano y en su abanico puede leer sus últimas palabras.

Eifersucht
La canción habla sobre un hombre que se siente envidiado por los demás, además del canibalismo, como en la línea "Töte mich, und iss mich ganz auf, Eifersucht!" mátame y devórame entero, celoso!. La canción aparece en la película "Wing Commander". Nunca ha sido tocada en vivo.

Küss mich (Fellfrosch)
La canción habla sobre una mujer horrible que desea que le hagan sexo oral, pero nadie la complace por su fealdad y su sabor. Fellfrosch significa literalmente "rana peluda", pero coloquialmente es una frase para denominar el vello púbico femenino. La canción usa muchos efectos interesantes, entre ellos varios sonidos divertidos utilizados en las caricaturas de televisión. Nunca ha sido tocada en vivo esta canción, debido a que es imposible imitar estos sonidos en el escenario sin usar playback
